Baby Shower Part 1: Details

I am so excited about this post! I threw an unabashedly decadent baby shower for my sister Emily this weekend, and I spared no detail! She had quite an uphill trek to get to where she is now, seven months pregnant, after two rounds of IVF. So I wanted to spoil her properly, along with her friends and family. It was a true celebration of the new life about to enter into our world. I simply cannot wait to get a snuggle in with the little b after she is born.

I chose to host the shower at Emily’s new home in Winchester, as a little bit of a house warming as I have found that the best baby showers are in the home. Since she didn’t have much in the way of furniture, I was thrilled to find Jillian McDonough of New England Vintage  and her amazing stash of whimsical vintage items which we could rent for the event. Since I was looking for chichi boutique catering, Jillian suggested her friend Valery Scott of Basil Catering. Two of Emily’s favorite foods are raspberries and pistachios, so those two ingredients and colors set the tone for the event. Jillian and Valery are two extremely talented ladies as they brought my vision to life so perfectly! This is the first time these two have worked together, but I am sure that is not to be the last! Valery’s rustic-chic food complements the vintage decor exceedingly well.

Savory menu items included sweet and savory panini, topped with roasted grapes or fig or raspberries. Brie & chutney minis and eggplant & mushroom tartlets were to die for entirely! Sweets included French macaroons from Fromaggio Kitchen, mini-cupcakes were from Sweet, and Raspberry Champagne sorbet from The Gelato Fiasco. The rest was Valery’s divine creation – starring the beautiful croquembouche for dessert!

More on flowers and details on the very fun and creative DIY soon! Credit is also due to Emily’s husband Mike’s team for helping prep the space for the event and her friend Sara for helping finish the DIY details with me.
